250 AEQ PAW120 PORTABLE RECORDERS IN RTV-SLO THREE BIGGEST PRODUCTION CENTERS

Radiotelevizija Slovenija is Slovenia´s national public broadcasting organization in the country's capital, Ljubljana and with regional broadcasting centres all around Slovenia. Founded in 1928 is a member of the EBU, and actually has 4 independent TV channels, 3 national radio networks and four regional radio stations.

RTV-SLO has been traditionally a quite satisfied customer of AEQ products (portable and stationary audicodec, Systel6000 multiconference system and commentary units for example) and during last 5 years, we have acquired around 250 units of AEQ portable audio recorder PAW120 to be used by radio journalist mainly in our three biggest RTV-SLO production centers: Ljubljana, Koper and Maribor.

In our opinion AEQ PAW120 offers high level audio technical specifications in a robust aluminium package with a friendly operation interface over an OLED display, and a very competitive price.

The PAW120, in a hand-held size, allows user to record, playback and edit audio, it supports a massive range of audio coding algorithms (PCM, MP2, MP3, WAV and BWF formats for easy integration our radio automation system). The recorder also can connect with a PC via USB interface for audio files uploading or downloading compatible with Windows PCs.

The operating concept is designed around a system of preset templates where all the required operating settings are stored, so make life quite easy for journalist and tech staff. The user can choose different parameters of the machine and these personalised settings are stored in a template for future quick access. There are two sets of templates: one for the compression mode to be used and the other one to store different input device, because AEQ PAW120 has a built-in microphone but also includes mono or stereo connector for external microphone even supporting phantom power. Like extra AEQ always provides a XLR adapter cable for these external mics

Finally in order to simplify operation, AEQ PAW120 has a mechanical switch to activate automatic gain control (AGC) so journalist can forget about this technical details, VOR (voice activated recording) perfect for press conferences and only needs 2 AA batteries that can be practically found anywhere for more than 8 hours operation autonomy. AEQ PAW120 includes a small audio editor that allows journalist to clean/edit recorded files, for example in the trip back from conference to office, saving time in future operations.

Like traditional customer and in base of a our long-term relation, AEQ advanced us that will release during 2012Q1 new AEQ Phoenix LIte app for iPhone, that offers audio recording and editing capabilities with a 3G or Wifi communication interface integrated, so hope we can test one prototype soon.
