PORTUGUESE "GRUPO RENANSCENÇA" SELECTS AEQ AS THE SOLE CONTRACTOR FOR ITS NEW FACILITIES IN OPORTO

INSTALLATIONS WERE ACCOMPLISHED ENTIRELY WITH AEQ-BC2000D AUDIO TECHNOLOGY FOR CENTRAL ROUTER AND DIGITAL AUDIO MIXERS

The Portuguese media corporation Group Renascenca has trusted in AEQ as the unique contractor for the execution of its new headquarters in Oporto. Group Renascenca, leading company in the radio broadcast market in Portugal, is owner of four national radio channels: RFM, Radio Renascenca, Mega FM and Radio Sinc. The type of programs is different depending on the channel, from generic contents for RFM and Radio Renascenca, most important channels of the group, music in Mega FM with a target audience clearly young, and the new Radio Sinc for a much more mature public.

The project includes the supply, installation and start-up of the totality of the radio studios, including all the technical equipments, furniture and cabling parts necessaries for the correct operation of the complete system, inside a turn-key project.

The studios created in the new facilities, include two boxes for edition (Ilhas) on small 4 faders mixers, two studios (B and C) on AEQ ARENA 15 faders digital mixer in self-operation configuration, two studios (Mega 1 and 2) on analogical mixer AEQ BC2500 in self-operation configuration, a double studio (A and A') with ARENA 15 faders in control room and ARENA 5 faders in associate booth, and a TOC central control on ARENA 15 faders for multiplex type management. All the ARENA mixers are finished in black colour.

All the studios are connected to the BC2000D central router over simple 32 channels optical fiber bidirectional MADI links or direct high-quality digital audio connections. The central router acts like hub of all the available signals in the installation.

The supply is completed with an AEQ Systel 6000 multiconference system for the management of all the incoming / outgoing communications over ISDN lines in the programs, and the AEQ Mar4Win automation system with a working station associated to every audio mixer, and a central server installed in TOC.

The small edition and recording boxes, named Ilhas, work on a simple four physical faders audio mixers close to a working station that integrates in a two screen display the control interfaces of Systel and Mar4Win, and are used for the production of small pieces or news, integrating voice in self-control operation, audio and music resources from storage files and remote communications. The final recording is stored directly in Mar4Win or in any other format using the mixer in whatever studio or in the central router.

The central router AEQ BC2000D supplied as heart of this installation is designed to support in the future up to 1024 inputs/outputs, but at present “only” approximately 300 I/O channels are used. The principal frame and the first satellite are installed in the TOC room of the offices of Radio Renascenca, but the second satellite frame is mounted in the roof of a different building distant 220m of Radio Renascenca HQ, and digitally connected to a RF transmissions radiolink system.

The totality of the project has been executed by AEQ, with an important human and technical deployment, displaced to Oporto permanently, in coordination with the technical staff of Radio Renascenca Porto led by the technical director Joao Ramos and the chief engineer Joao Pereira.
